That this rainforest remains preserved is due in no small part to the initiatives and efforts of ANKOBRA BEACH RETREAT! Mr Florian Wolfart and Professor Augustus Addae-Mensah (two of the founders/owners) met with then PRESIDENT J. J. RAWLINGS , who immediately stopped all foreign actions which threatened to decimate this treasured areal. The first ANKOBRA ROUNDTABLE CONFERENCE was held 19 – 23 February 1996 and launched the official opening of ANKOBRA BEACH RETREAT. It was attended by many influential regional and local dignitaries. Keynote speakers included , Awulai Anor Adjei III (Omanhene of Beyin, Western Nzema Traditional Area)) and Mr Claude Martin ( then International Director of WWF). The bound proceedings are available for loan or purchase at our reception. We remain dedicated to the conservation and preservation of this precious Rainforest.
Our staff will organize an informed and expertly guided visit to ANKASA for your unique and unforgettable experience.
